Heather Lovingood

My name is Heather Lovingood and I am delighted to be the full-time Day Treatment teacher this year.

Let me first start by sharing some information about myself professionally and personally. This is my 8th full year of teaching at Murphy Elementary School and I am very excited about what the school year holds. I graduated from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor’s degree in Birth-Kindergarten Education/Child and Family Studies and graduated from Piedmont College with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education (K-6). I have also studied Counseling in the Master’s program with the University of West Alabama. This summer, I will begin the journey to complete my Education Specialist degree in Special Education. I am certified to teach Pre-Kindergarten, Elementary Education K-6, and Exceptional Children (Mild to Moderate and Severe to Profound).

I love spending time with my family! I have been married for almost 17 years to Michael Lovingood.  We both graduated from Murphy High School. We have a 14 year old son, 3 year old daughter, and a 5 month old baby boy.  Needless to say, we stay very busy but in our spare time we enjoy going on family trips.  I love to spend time outside.  We have a small farm with goats, chickens, dogs and a horse. I also love to cook and shop! I also truly love to TEACH!

Ultimately, I want the children in my classroom to love to learn! Each day I will strive to create a nurturing classroom environment by choosing the best methods for each child to be an inspired learner and help each child develop to their highest potential. I believe a passion for learning is quite different from just studying to earn a grade or please parents or teachers. Children who develop a love of learning at an early age continue the process throughout their lives.
